Ikaika Anderson on Religion-based Bigotry & Discrimination

On March 25, 2022, the Stonewall Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawai’i hosted a forum featuring five candidates running for Lieutenant Governor. While four of the candidates – Sherry Menor-McNamara, Keith Amemiya, Sylvia Luke, and Jill Tokuda – were good, Ikaika Anderson stood out because of his comfort with and grasp of the issues and concerns of LGBTQ+ communities.

As an example, here is Anderson’s uncompromising response to our question about addressing the anti-LGBTQ doctrine and policies actively promoted by powerful institutions in our region such as Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
